Harry Smith
The son of the late Davey Boy Smith (aka The British Bulldog) and Diana Hart, Harry Francis Smith was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on August 2, 1985. His paternal grandparents are Sid and Joyce Smith of Golborne, England. His maternal grandparents are Stu and Helen Hart, founders of Stampede Wrestling, Calgary.
In early 1991, the Smith Family moved to Land O Lakes, Florida and remained there until summer 1996. In Tampa, Harry and his sister Georgia studied ballet at Elsa Pardo Dance Studio. In 1994, Harry won the Tropicana Speech Award for his story about Abe Lincoln and amateur wrestling.
In July 1994, at the age of 9, Harry and his cousin and best friend Matt Annis had their first professional wrestling match at the Rockyford Rodeo in Alberta. They were considered a novelty match, but were so impressive, they continued to apply themselves in hopes of joining WWE when they reached adulthood.
In 1996, the Smith family left Tampa and moved back to Calgary to reunite with family after Matt suddenly fell ill from the flesh-eating disease, which ultimately killed him at the age of 13.
Harry began training in his grandfather Stu’s infamous dungeon. At 15 years old, he turned professional and began working for his uncles Bruce and Ross, atStampede Wrestling in 2000.
Harry also joined the syndicated television show called Mat Rats, a kids wrestling promotion. Harry worked in both promotions with his cousins Ted Annis and Nattie Neidhart as well as his future WWE tag team partner and best friend TJ Wilson (aka Tyson Kid).
Harry continued to wrestle for Stampede Wrestling, and worked alongside his father in Winnipeg, Manitoba in early-May 2002. This would be his dad's last wrestling match, as Davey sadly passed away less than two weeks later.
Harry graduated from Ernest Manning High School in 2004. From there, he, cousin Nattie, and TJ Wilson were trained by Tokyo Joe (Yukihiro Sakada) specifically for Japanese-style wrestling and worked tours for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Harry also wrestled in Europe. On April 4th, 2006, WWE signed Harry to a developmental contract. Where he wrestled under the name “DH (David Hart) Smith.”
In 2008, Harry, his mom, and sister Georgia moved to Tampa, Florida, where Harry wrestled for WWE’s developmental territory (FCW) Florida Championship Wrestling, the forerunner to WWE NXT. Later that year, Harry, his cousin Nattie aka “Natalya”, and childhood friend TJ Wilson aka “Tyson Kidd”, made their debut on WWE’s ECW brand as The Hart Dynasty.
In April 2009, The Hart Dynasty competed on both WWE’s Raw and SmackDown, winning the tag team championships.
In August, 2011 Harry parted ways with WWE, and toured again for New Japan Pro Wrestling. He trained in catch-style wrestling with Billy Robinson, a father-figure to him.
Harry is currently under contract with MLW (Major League Pro Wrestling), where he wrestles as Davey Boy Smith Jr. In MLW, Harry, his cousin Ted, and Brian Pillman Jr, (son of the late great Brian Pillman who was as close as family to Harry’s dad, and uncles in the Hart Foundation) formed The New Hart Foundation.
Harry continues wrestling as Davey Boy Smith, Jr. and devotes much of his life studying and competing in combative disciplines, such as catch and amateur wrestling, jujitsu, boxing and kickboxing. Harry is also fluent in Japanese.
